Syringing (spraying plants with clean water) removes dirt from the leaves and increases humidity to a degree. Be sure to syringe plants early in the day to allow the leaf surface to dry. Leaf disease can develop if the leaf surface remains wet overnight.

Le bassinage est utilisé en cultures maraîchères et en horticulture notamment pour des plantes récemment bouturées ou repiquées pour faciliter leur reprise. Il se pratique actuellement dans les serres avec un système de gicleurs fixes et un dispositif automatique; des arrosages de très courtes durées, quelques dizaines de secondes, permettent à la fois de laver le feuillage, d'élever l'hygrométrie, et d'abaisser la température. Dans la plupart des cas, il n'y a que des avantages à bassiner en plein soleil.
