Pour conclure, il convient de mentionner la version «dégradée» du paraboloïde, le «bol» sphérique. Un miroir en demi-sphère réfléchit la lumière non pas sur un point, mais, au moins en partie, sur un absorbeur linéaire. Le «bol» peut être installé de façon fixe, la barre absorbante étant déplacée en fonction de la course du soleil.
