Prueba empleada para investigar la eficiencia del aparato circulatorio y, en especial, la reserva cardíaca. Consiste en hacer ascender y descender durante 90 segundos dos escalones de una altura determinada con un ritmo que varía según la edad, el sexo y el peso del paciente. Se registra luego la frecuencia del pulso y la presión arterial y se toman electrocardiogramas antes y después de la prueba.
