The Canadian Health Record Association was founded in 1942 to provide a forum for health record professionals to share their expertise. Its federal charter was obtained in 1949. The Canadian College of Health Record Administrators was federally chartered in 1972 to deal with the educational standards and professional certification of the health record professional. These bodies operate jointly, under the acronym CHRA, to attain the following mission and goals.
