A highly coloured, alkali-soluble and partially water soluble chlorinated phenolic material formed from the reaction of chlorine and the ligneous component of chemical pulp.

OBS

Chlorine reacts with lignin by a) Addition of chlorine to double bonds; b) Substitution of chlorine for hydrogen atoms in benzene rings; c) Oxidation.

OBS

Le chlore réagit à la lignine par a) l'addition de chlore à des doubles liaisons; b) la substitution d'atomes d'hydrogène par le chlore dans les cycles aromatiques; c) l'oxydation.
