Comment devient-on et comment reste-t-on consommateur responsable ? Il faut tout d'abord prendre conscience des effets sur l'être humain, la société, l'environnement et la démocratie des modes conventionnels de production, commercialisation et consommation. Il faut ensuite avoir accès à une information suffisamment neutre, non orientée par des intérêts économiques, qui permette d'entretenir son esprit critique et de choisir en toute connaissance de cause. Puis il s'agit d'acquérir de nouveaux réflexes : dans ses comportements, dans ses actes d'achat et dans le choix de ses lieux d'achat.

consommateur écologiquement averti : Cette expression est bien formée mais ne couvre qu'une partie du concept, puisque ce dernier englobe aussi les aspects économique et social. Il faudrait sans doute l'étoffer et parler d'un «consommateur écologiquement et socialement averti».
