Si bien los cirujanos no pueden operar temporalmente, tienen el potencial de utilizar telesalud para dar consultas preoperatorias y citas de seguimiento postoperatorio. Esto podría lograrse en entornos de práctica privada con el uso de servicios de telesalud [...], que permiten la consulta en vivo con los pacientes sin una exposición innecesaria de pacientes o profesionales de la salud a una probable infección. La principal limitación de este tipo de citas es la falta de un examen físico al paciente, por lo que los servidores de salud han descubierto que la facturación basada en el tiempo pasado con el paciente es más eficaz con esta herramienta.
