On 20 October 2005, the UNESCO General Conference approved the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The Convention seeks to reaffirm the links between culture, development and dialogue and to create an innovative platform for international cultural cooperation; to this end, it reaffirms the sovereign right of States to elaborate cultural policies with a view "to protect and promote the diversity of cultural expressions" and "to create the conditions for cultures to flourish and to freely interact in a mutually beneficial manner". 1, record 1, English, - Convention%20on%20the%20Protection%20and%20Promotion%20of%20the%20Diversity%20of%20Cultural%20Expressions

Le 20 octobre 2005, la Conférence générale de l'UNESCO a approuvé la Convention sur la protection et la promotion de la diversité des expressions culturelles. La Convention vise à réaffirmer les liens qui unissent culture, développement et dialogue et à créer une plate-forme innovante de coopération culturelle internationale.
