On July 1, 1998, The Corporation of the Township of Golden and The Corporation of the Township of Red Lake are amalgamated as a new Town to be named The Corporation of the Municipality of Red Lake. (From Order Made Under The Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.45, signed by [Ontario] Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing (Al Leach), March 25, 1998). There is no official French translation for the name of the corporation according to the Corporation of the Municipality of Red Lake.
