Layer of the Sun's atmosphere just outside the photosphere which is visually observed when the Sun is totally eclipsed and spectroscopically observable at other times. 2, record 1, English, - chromosphere
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Immediately above the photosphere and extending for an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 miles is the "chromosphere". The chromosphere can be seen during a total solar eclipse just seconds before and after totality ... The chromosphere must be at a lower pressure and temperature than the photosphere which emits the background continuous spectrum. 3, record 1, English, - chromosphere

Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 CONT

4, record 1, French, - chromosph%C3%A8re
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
