Chronic means long-term or prolonged. It can describe either an exposure or a health effect. A chronic exposure is a long-term exposure. Long-term means lasting for months or years. A chronic health effect is an effect that appears months or years after an exposure. The Controlled Products Regulations describe technical criteria for identifying materials which cause chronic health effects. (See also Acute.) 2, record 1, English, - chronic

Chronique veut dire à long terme ou prolongé. Le terme "chronique" peut s'appliquer à un effet sur la santé. L'exposition chronique est une exposition de longue durée : des mois ou des années. On dit que l'effet sur la santé est chronique lorsqu'il se produit longtemps après l'exposition, c'est-à-dire après plusieurs mois ou années. Le Règlement sur les produits contrôlés décrit les critères techniques servant à définir les substances qui causent des effets chroniques sur la santé.
