La entrevista digital, también llamada encuentro digital, se caracteriza por tener un formato en el que el periodista es sustituido por los lectores o internautas, que envían sus preguntas a través de la web del medio digital. [...] Los medios suelen utilizar una webcam (cámara de vídeo web) que enfoca al entrevistado mientras responde a los internautas, lo que refuerza la sensación de directo. En caso de no disponer de los medios técnicos la imagen se suele limitar a una foto.

La Fundación del Español Urgente (Fundéu BBVA), con el asesoramiento de la Real Academia Española, indica que si lo que toma la cámara va directamente a Internet, sin pasar por una computadora, se habla a veces de "cámara de red".
