Service: In addition to the service required under paragraph 58(1)(b) of the Supreme Court Act which requires that the notice of appeal be served on all other parties to the case, Rule 34 requires that an appellant must mail a copy of the notice of appeal to all parties and interveners in the court appealed from.

Les parties à un pourvoi sont appelées en France : «demandeur au pourvoi» et «défendeur au pourvoi». Ces désignations n'ont pas cours au Canada, où on utilise les termes «appelant» et «intimé».

OBS

En anglais, le substantif et le verbe «appeal» se disent, tout comme en français, d'un appel à n'importe quel tribunal, tandis qu'en français «pourvoi» a le sens technique de recours à un tribunal de dernier ressort, comme la Cour suprême du Canada et la Cour de cassation en France, même si au sens courant, il a le même sens général qu'en anglais.
