DIALISIS [3 records]

Record 1 2015-09-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Water Treatment (Water Supply)
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Biochemistry
DEF

A process by which small molecules or ions diffuse through a membrane thus causing their separation from larger molecules in solution and from suspended matter.

OBS

dialysis: term and definition standardized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement des eaux
  • Génie chimique
  • Biochimie
DEF

Record 2 2005-06-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Biochemistry
  • Biotechnology
DEF

The separation of substances of different molecular weight by diffusion through a selectively permeable membrane.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Biochimie
  • Biotechnologie
DEF

Record 3 2005-02-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Injections, Tubing and Transfusions (Medicine)
  • Blood
DEF

A medical procedure that uses a machine to filter waste products from the bloodstream and restore the bloods normal constituents.

CONT

The two types of dialysis are: hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. In hemodialysis, the patient's blood is passed through a tube into a machine that filters out waste products. The cleansed blood is then returned to the body. In peritoneal dialysis, a special solution is run through a tube into the peritoneum, a thin tissue that lines the cavity of the abdomen. The body's waste products are removed through the tube.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Injections, tubages et transfusions (Médecine)
  • Sang
CONT
