Comme le suggère leur nom, les brèches minéralisées sont celles qui renferment le plus de sulfures; ells sont caractérisées par des fragments de dolomie cimentés par de la dolomite spathique blanche ou rose et des sulfures.

Au point de vue de leur composition tous les intermédiaires existent entre le calcaire et la dolomie et la terminologie dépend du pourcentage de dolomite : dolomies pures (plus de 90 %), dolomies calcarifères (de 50 à 90 %), calcaires dolomitiques (10 à 50 %).

Ne pas confondre avec «dolomite» qui désigne le minéral présent dans la dolomie.
