On emplit le récipient par une quantité de produit mesurée au préalable. Le cycle de fonctionnement comprend une phase d'aspiration et une phase de refoulement. Pendant l'aspiration, le piston monte et prélève une quantité de produit dans le réservoir grâce à une vanne à boisseau tournant et transfert le produit dans le cylindre de mesure calibré. Lorsque le cylindre est rempli la vanne à boisseau tournant obture la liaison avec le réservoir et met en relation le cylindre avec le récipient à remplir.
