When faced with the task of preparing specifications for an engineering project, the engineer must consider many factors, among which the most important are: nature of the owner's business--private industry or public body; magnitude of the project; estimated duration of construction period.

Projects are qualified by specifying the object of the project, as in the terms "building project", "construction project", "design project", "engineering project", etc. See also the record for "project".
