The hundreds of enzyme-catalyzed chemical reactions in cells are organized into many different sequences of consecutive reactions. Such sequences may have anywhere from 2 to 20 or more reaction steps. Some of these sequences of enzyme-catalyzed reactions degrade organic nutrients into simple end products. 1, record 1, English, - enzyme%2Dcatalyzed%20reaction

1, record 1, French, - r%C3%A9action%20catalys%C3%A9e%20par%20des%20enzymes

Enzymes can catalyze in seconds complex sequences of reactions that would require days, weeks, or months of work in the chemical laboratory. Moreover, enzyme-catalyzed reactions proceed with 100 percent yields; there are no by-products. 1, record 2, English, - enzyme%2Dcatalyzed%20reaction
