Plantations énergétiques. Au cours des dernières années, la possibilité de cultiver intensivement des plantes hybrides spéciales pour la production d'énergie (...) a fait l'objet de nombreuses discussions. (...) Le principal avantage à retirer du concept de la plantation est la réduction de la superficie nécessaire pour alimenter en combustible un convertisseur énergétique. Cette superficie est inversement proportionnelle à la productivité. Le facteur trafic (masse transportée x distance), une mesure des coûts de transport de la récolte, sera proportionnel à la racine carrée de la superficie.
