In 1995, the governments of Canada, the Provinces and Territories, and representatives of local governments across Canada joined forces to initiate the Canadian Governments On-Line (CGOL) project. The CGOL initiative is a collaborative effort of government managers at all levels of government. En 1995, les gouvernements fédéral, provinciaux et des territoires ainsi que plusieurs municipalités d'un bout à l'autre du Canada se réunissaient afin de former le projet Gouvernements canadiens en direct (GCED).
