[Les propriétés électriques du sous-sol peuvent être explorées par le] profilage électrique horizontal [qui] est surtout sensible aux variations latérales de conductivité électrique. Cette technique est particulièrement efficace pour détecter les hétérogénéités locales peu profondes dans le sous-sol. Dans ce cas il faut que la séparation des électrodes de courant soit suffisamment grande pour que la pénétration effective maximum du courant atteigne la profondeur de ces hétérogénéités.
