Le point d'inflammation d'un liquide est la température à laquelle il faut le porter pour que les vapeurs émises puissent être enflammées au contact d'une flamme et qu'elles le soient en quantité suffisante pour entretenir la combustion. Cette température, aux exceptions près, est en général légèrement supérieure à celle du point d'éclair.
