A flat and flexible board mounted on a fulcrum, secured at the deep end of a swimming pool or on one side of a diving pool and extending well over the body of water, for the divers to gain height for dives performed one (1) or three (3) metres from the surface of the water.

OBS

In a swimming pool, the diving boards (1- and 3- meter high) are used for diving, and the starting blocks, for swimming. The term "board" can be a short for "diving board" or "swingboard" as well as the flat part of the diving device, but it stands also for a floating board used as a leg-stroke exerciser in swimming training.

Planche rectangulaire plate et élastique fixée à l'extrémité profonde d'une piscine de natation ou sur un côté d'une fosse ou bassin de plongeon de façon à surplomber le plan d'eau, et servant aux plongeurs à gagner de la hauteur dans l'exécution de plongeons à des hauteurs de un (1) mètre (tremplin d'un mètre) ou de trois (3) mètres (tremplin de trois mètres); le nageur peut en modifier l'élasticité.

OBS

Dans une piscine de natation, les tremplins de un et trois mètres servent pour le plongeon et les blocs de départ, pour la natation. Le terme «planche», une partie du tremplin, sert parfois à désigner le tremplin lui-même; mais il peut aussi signifier une planche de flottaison dont les nageurs se servent à l'entraînement pour parfaire leurs battements de jambes. Par définition, les tremplins sont munis d'une planche souple et les plates-formes ou tours, d'une planche fixe; l'expression «tremplin à planche souple» devient donc vieillie. Un «plongeoir» est un bassin de plongeon; le terme ne doit pas servir à désigner un tremplin ou une plate-forme.
