Se dan dos tipos de intermediación [en el mercado de valores]: la intermediación indirecta y la directa. En la indirecta participa un intermediario financiero, que puede ser un banco captando recursos del público que luego los coloca en forma de préstamo, cobrando una tasa de interés predeterminada. En la directa, la unidad económica que necesita dinero para financiar sus proyectos o actividades, se aproxima a los inversionistas directamente, recurriendo, por ejemplo, a emitir valores en el mercado y captar así los recursos que necesiten.
