Depuis 1989, la Bibliothèque nationale organise une campagne annuelle visant à promouvoir les joies de la lecture et à conscientiser les jeunes face à la littérature canadienne. Pour ce faire, la Bibliothèque nationale publie chaque année, la trousse Lisez sur le sujet qui contient une liste annotée de livres canadiens primés, dans les deux langues officielles, ainsi qu'une liste dressée autour d'un thème particulier. La trousse comprend également des articles de promotion, tels que des signets, qui sont distribués aux enfants par les professeurs, les bibliothécaires et les chefs de groupes.
