La morphologie des corps pegmatitiques dépend de nombreux facteurs: la profondeur de mise en place, le contexte structural, la compétence de l'encaissant. Elles forment généralement des corps de petites dimensions (x 100 m) à l'exception de quelques monstres tels les pegmatites à terres rares de Tanco (Manitoba), de Bikita (Zimbabwe), ou de Greenbushes (42 Mt à 2,93 % LiO2, Australie). Leur morphologie est souvent complexe, en pipes, amas, ou lentilles.
