A Mental Health Warrant authorizes law enforcement to take a person into custody who shows symptoms of a mental illness and who also is at risk for harm to self or others. The warrant orders a person to undergo a mental health evaluation by a doctor to determine if hospitalization is necessary.

If the judge is convinced that you are a danger and there is no other way to arrange an examination, the judge can issue a Mental Health Warrant. The warrant is authority for a peace officer to apprehend the person identified in the warrant and convey them to a facility for examination.
