Within this unglaciated area of southeastern Ohio, the majority of the landscape comprises moderately to steeply sloping terrain. Quercus dominated dry and dry-mesic ridgetops and slopes, while "Liriodendron tulipifera" L. and "Acer saccharum" Marsh. dominated mesic slopes and wet-mesic ravine bottoms.
