Muscle balance involves increasing or decreasing the relative strength of a muscle. It also includes redirection of muscle tendons to change their mechanical retrograde pull. Tendoachilles lengthening, gastrocnemius lengthening, anterior tendon teno-suspension, and the Kidner procedure exemplify this method.
