The lack of data which provides comprehensive drug use and cost information across government jurisdictions, is a major barrier to improving drug utilization in Canada. A project is currently underway to explore a coordinated, common approach to drug utilization data, analysing drug costs and outcomes: The Options for Prescription Drug Utilization Study (OPUS), funded by the Health Transition Fund.
