Palladio et Vignole en firent grand usage, la Renaissance française l'utilise aussi [...] (Chantilly et Ecouen) ainsi que les XVIIe et XVIIIe siècles (Louvre, palais de Gabriel, place de la Concorde). Généralement au-dessus de la corniche se trouve un attique. Cet ordre majestueux enlève à la façade son rapport avec l'ordonnance intérieure.
