The Data Coordination and Access Program (DCAP) of the Office of Public Health Practice (OPHP) acquires and manages centralized data holdings which are used by analysts across the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) as well as Health Canada via the Data Extraction and Analysis application (DEXA). DCAP operates as a data broker on behalf of PHAC in the development of data sources and in the standardized, protected acquisition of data related to health. DCAP coordinates data requirements through PHAC s Health Surveillance Coordination Committee (HSCC) and provides a liaison function with Statistics Canada, CIHI and other data providers to represent the Agency's requirements and negotiate data sharing agreements. Our major clients are epidemiologists and analysts within PHAC and Health Canada who need both micro-level and summarized data to perform surveillance, research and policy development.

Le programme d'accès et coordination des données (PACD) du Bureau de la pratique en santé publique (BPSP) acquiert et gére des fonds de données centralisés qui servent aux analystes de l'ensemble de l'Agence de santé publique du Canada (ASPC) ainsi qu'à Santé Canada par le biais de l'application d'extraction et d'analyse de données (AEAD). Le PACD fonctionne comme un courtier de données au nom de l'ASPC pour le développement de sources de données et pour l'acquisition normalisée et protégée de données concernant la santé. Le PACD coordonne les exigences de données par l'intermédiaire du comité de coordination de la surveillance de l'ASPC et assure la liaison avec Statistique Canada, l'ICIS et d'autres fournisseurs de données afin de représenter les exigences de l'agence et de négocier les ententes de partage de données. Nos principaux clients sont les épidémiologistes et les analystes, au sein de l'ASPC et de Santé Canada, qui nécessitent des microdonnées et des données sommaires afin d'effectuer la surveillance, la recherche et l'élaboration de politique.

The General Assembly [of the United Nations] decided ... to convene a United Nations Conference on Desertification, between 29 August and 9 September 1977, which would produce an effective, comprehensive and co-ordinated Plan of Action to Combat Desertification. ... The immediate goal of the Plan of Action to Combat Desertification is to prevent and to arrest the advance of desertification and, where possible, to reclaim desertified land for productive use. The ultimate objective is to sustain and promote, within ecological limits, the productivity of arid, semi-arid, sub-humid and other areas vulnerable to desertification in order to improve the quality of life of their inhabitants.
