L'ensemble constitué par deux bras d'ébranchage peut être désigné par le terme pince d'ébranchage. La pince d'ébranchage joue parfois un double rôle. En effet, il arrive qu'elle soit jumelée à une autre pince, l'une retenant l'arbre pendant que l'autre l'ébranche sur une certaine longueur, puis les deux pinces inversant leur rôle, la première ébranchant l'arbre pendant que la seconde le retient.
