L'Actualité terminologique (2:8:4) déclare qu'il faut parler de "première pierre". en se fondant sur des textes qualifiés de "lumineux". Une chose en tout cas est lumineuse, c'est que les exemples cités s'appliquent tous à une cérémonie marquant le début des travaux de construction d'un immeuble. Lorsque le "cornerstone laying" marque plutôt, contre toute logique, l'inauguration d'un immeuble terminé, on parlera plutôt de "pierre angulaire", ce qui n'est guère satisfaisant, mais évitera le ridicule de parler de la "première pierre".
