Le pralinage consiste à enrober les racines d'un jeune arbre ou les graines, que le jardinier va semer, d'une substance pâteuse : le pralin.

OBS

Pralin : Terre mélangée d'eau utilisée pour praliner les racines avant leur mise en terre. Ce mélange est renforcé d'un désinfectant quand il s'agit d'assurer la protection des graines contre les parasites.

Pralinage. Cette opération en apportant aux racines fraîcheur et même hormones de reprise, facilite grandement la réussite de la plantation d'autant qu'elle crée autour d'elles une carapace terreuse déjà bien adhérente. Préparons un mélange de boue argileuse et d'hormones (dans les proportions recommandées par le fabricant) et laissons tremper les racines des végétaux un quart d'heure dans cette préparation. Plantons après avoir laissé sécher la "praline". Le pralinage devient indispensable pour toute plantation effectuée en fin de printemps.

L'enrobage est un procédé de traitement des semences consistant à revêtir les graines d'une couche protectrice composée d'un fongicide éventuellement associé à un insecticide ou à un molluscicide, afin de protéger la germination de la jeune plante contre les pathogènes externes ou internes, ou encore à un répulsif contre les oiseaux. Ce terme s'applique également à la couche elle-même. On distingue l'enrobage à sec [...], l'enrobage humide [...] et le pralinage [...] qui consiste à appliquer autour de la graine une carapace assez épaisse d'enrobant. L'enrobage est aussi utilisé pour le semis de précision.
