L'examen de divers contextes français nous amène à constater la coexistence de procédé et de processus pour couvrir [le sens du terme anglais process]. Cependant, nous observons qu'au fur et à mesure que la technique française se démarque de l'américaine, le français reprend ses droits, c'est-à-dire que procédé concurrence, et de plus en plus, processus. On peut parler de rétablissement d'une situation, car en français le terme processus définit une évolution généralement naturelle mais n'a jamais voulu dire «méthode employée pour parvenir à un résultat». Or, cette définition est celle de procédé; il apparaît donc que l'emploi de processus au sens de procédé est un anglicisme.
