Technique d'impression sans impact; un papier spécialement traité constitué d'une couche de base conductrice revêtue d'une matière thermoplastique non conductrice sert à stocker une charge électrique appliquée directement par un ensemble d'électrodes. Cette charge correspond à l'image latente de l'original. Une fois le chargement effectué, l'image est reproduite sur le papier à l'aide d'un système au toner semblable à celui des autres appareils de reproduction électrostatique. Cette technique est parfois appelée électrographique et est actuellement implantée dans les imprimantes sans impact polyvalentes, les télécopieurs et certains photocopieurs.
