Procédé basé sur la coagulation thermique de la boue. La boue chauffée à des températures comprises entre 150 et 200°C subit une transformation irréversible. Sa structure colloïdale est détruite ainsi que son affinité pour l'eau dont elle se sépare par simple décantation. La boue épaissie et recueillie est facilement déshydratable sur filtres-presses ou filtres à vide.
