Procédure appliquée sur les traversées océaniques où le trafic se présente généralement en alignements. Elle vise à faciliter le dépassement d'un avion plus lent par un avion plus performant qui part d'un niveau de vol inférieur et veut atteindre un niveau plus élevé. Avec un T-CAS, le pilote détecte les avions qui l'entourent et peut les localiser grossièrement. La procédure ITC autorise donc le dépassement dès que la séparation atteint les 15 ou 20 nm (30-40 km) pour des avions équipés de T-CAS.
