Les Européens conservent en général l'appellation «chondrocalcinose articulaire», alors que les auteurs américains se réfèrent plus volontiers à la «maladie par dépôts de cristaux de pyrophosphate de calcium dihydraté» ou encore au «syndrome de pseudogoutte», désignant plutôt l'accès aigu microcristallin.
