Transport Canada. Urban, Intermodalism and Motor Carrier Policy Branch. In Canada, jurisdiction over motor carriers (truck and bus operators) is shared between the federal government and the provinces. However, the federal role is largely one of coordination and facilitation. Federal legislation, the Motor Vehicle Transport Act (MVTA) allows provinces to apply their own rules and regulations to motor carriers in federal jurisdiction, subject to the conditions set in the Act. Transports Canada. Direction des politiques sur l'urbanisme, l'intermodalisme et les transporteurs routiers. Au Canada, le gouvernement fédéral et les provinces se partagent la compétence du transport routier (exploitants de camions et d'autobus). Cependant, le gouvernement fédéral joue majoritairement un rôle de coordination et de facilitation. Une loi fédérale, la Loi sur les transports routiers (LTR), autorise les provinces à appliquer leurs propres règles et règlements aux transporteurs routiers relevant de la compétence fédérale, sous réserve des conditions énoncées dans la Loi.
