The International Register of Potentially Toxic Chemicals was established in 1976 as a bureau of the UN Environment Programme. This office is located in Geneva. IRPTC's mandate is to collect information on hazardous chemicals and disseminate it to anyone who needs the data. The office operates a global network for information exchange. A database on all toxic chemicals serves as the basis of this network and free publications help to spread the word. Le Registre international des substances chimiques potentiellement toxiques a été établi en 1976 en tant que bureau du Programme des Nations Unies pour l'Environnement. Ses bureaux se trouvent à Genève. Le mandat du Registre est de recueillir les informations sur les produits chimiques dangereux et de disséminer ces informations à ceux qui les désirent. Le Bureau gère un réseau internationale d'échange d'informations. Une base de données sur toutes les substances toxiques et des publications gratuites aident à faire passer les informations.
