Flottement de la feuille. Dès que les feutres synthétiques ont été inventés, on a augmenté le plus possible leur perméabilité pour profiter de l'effet sur la ventilation des poches. Cependant, les courants d'air sont plus violents et ils produisent des flottements de la feuille sur les machines à grande vitesse qui fabriquent des papiers légers. Ce problème de flottement de la feuille a amené les papetiers à accorder beaucoup d'attention au choix des feutres en fonction de leur emplacement.
