The structure of the NAICS, to be adopted by Statistics Canada in 1997 to replace the 1980 Standard Industrial Classification (1980 SIC), is currently being developed by the statistical agencies of Canada, Mexico and the United States. Agreements on the proposed structures for the following areas have been signed by the three countries at a meeting held in Ottawa on May 18 and 19, 1995. The agreements are for Petroleum and Coal Products Manufacturing, Chemical Manufacturing, and Rubber and Plastic Products Manufacturing; Broadcasting and Telecommunications; Food Services and Drinking Places, and Accommodation. Les organismes statistiques du Canada, du Mexique et des Etats-Unis sont à élaborer la structure du SCIAN qui sera adopté par Statistique Canada en 1997 pour remplacer la Classification type des industries de 1980 (CTI 1980). Les accords sur les structures proposées pour les secteurs suivants ont été signés par les trois pays lors d'une réunion tenue à Ottawa les 18 et 19 mai 1995. Ces accords sont pour la Fabrication de produits du pétrole et du charbon; la Fabrication de produits chimiques; la Fabrication de produits en caoutchouc et en matières plastiques; les Radiodiffusions et télécommunications; les Services de restauration et débits de boissons; et, l'hébergement.
