Geological sequestration of carbon dioxide is a means of reducing greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere by capturing it directly from major point sources and injecting it into sedimentary strata. Carbon dioxide can be sequestered by stratigraphic and structural trapping in depleted oil and gas reservoirs, by solubility trapping in reservoir oil and formation brines, and by adsorption trapping in coal beds. In addition, CO2 can be stored or sequestered for extremely long periods of time in deep saline aquifers. 4, record 1, English, - geological%20storage
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
Some authors make a distinction between the terms "geological storage" and "geological sequestration." The disposal of CO2 in geological formation can be either permanent (geological sequestration) or for a significant time period (geological storage). 5, record 1, English, - geological%20storage

3, record 1, French, - stockage%20g%C3%A9ologique
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 2 CONT
4, record 1, French, - stockage%20g%C3%A9ologique
Record number: 1, Textual support number: 1 OBS
5, record 1, French, - stockage%20g%C3%A9ologique
