A conditioning exercise which consists of jumping from a normal standing position with the hands at the sides to a position with the feet spread apart and the hands together often at arm's length over the head and then back to the original position.

OBS

A similar exercise could be done with feet spreading apart in a forward/backward or backward/forward axis and the hands clapping over the head after a rotation on a similar axis.

Since the exercise is performed in a sequence, the terms are often used in the plural form.

APPELLATION : Sauts avec écart. POSITION : Debout, le corps droit, les jambes tendues et jointes, les bras dans le prolongement du corps. EXÉCUTION : Sautez en écartant les jambes et, simultanément, vous vous touchez les mains au-dessus de la tête. Effectuez ce mouvement rapidement et sans arrêt. RESPIRATION : Inspirez en levant les bras au-dessus de la tète et expirez en revenant en position de départ.

Le même exercice se fait dans un axe avant/arrière. On l'appelle alors «saut avec écart avant-arrière des bras et des jambes» ou «saut avec ouverture avant-arrière des bras et des jambes».

OBS

Comme cet exercice se fait en séquence, il est habituellement nommé au pluriel. Mais plus souvent, il est décrit; voir le magazine «Ski Club alpin nordique», hiver 1979-1980, p. 40, fig. 5 et 6, et p. 43, fig. 10 et 11.
