A level of classification by object used by departments and central agencies.

CONT

To accommodate the need for differing degrees of detail, several levels of classifications by objects are used. In descending order of aggregation, they are: categories; sub-categories; standard objects; reporting objects; sub-reporting objects; economic, source and class objects; and departmental (or line) objects.

CONT

Sub-categories are a primary breakdown of each category. In many cases, they are the same as standard objects.
