STAS (Science and Technology Awareness Site) has three key activities: On-line S&T information, links, and activities for students, teachers and parents; Mentoring activities with professional scientists, engineers, and technology experts; Promotion of local, regional, and national science fair activities, project suggestions, and contact information for students and teachers; Science and technology in all forms are increasingly important to our economy and to a sound education. They also constitute important career and work opportunities for our youth. STAS aims to help students and their teacher/parents understand this through: Building S&T literacy in the community; Strong support for creative and sound science fair projects; Links to curriculum to make integration easier for teachers in their planning and teaching; Highlighting the everyday nature of science and technology in many jobs and workplaces on PEI, ie. in the students' communities; Linking science and technology to specific career options; Highlighting the science and technology behind the key economic drivers of the PEI economy. 1, record 2, English, - Science%20and%20Technology%20Awareness%20Site

Les trois activités clés de STAS (Sciences et technologie pour l'apprentissage et le savoir) sont : Permettre aux élèves, professeurs et parents d'avoir accès à des renseignements, liens et activités liés aux sciences et à la technologie; Offrir des activités de mentorat grâce à l'aide de scientifiques, d'ingénieurs et de spécialistes en technologie; Faire la promotion des expo-sciences locales, régionales et nationales auprès des élèves et des professeurs, et leur transmettre des suggestions de projets et diverses coordonnées. Les sciences et la technologie, dans toutes leurs formes, sont de plus en plus importantes pour notre économie et pour une éducation saine. Elles constituent aussi d'importantes perspectives de carrière et d'emploi pour nos jeunes. STAS vise à aider les élèves et leurs professeurs/parents à comprendre ceci en : augmentant les connaissances scientifiques et techniques au sein de la communauté; appuyant les projets d'expo-sciences créatifs et solides; facilitant la planification et l'enseignement des professeurs en leur donnant des liens utiles vers des programmes scolaires; soulignant les applications courantes des sciences et de la technologie dans de nombreux emplois et lieux de travail à l'Î.-P.-É., c'est-à-dire dans les communautés des jeunes; liant les sciences et la technologie à des choix de carrières spécifiques; signalant les aspects scientifiques et technologiques derrière les catalyseurs économiques clés de l'économie de l'Î.-P.-É. 1, record 2, French, - Sciences%20et%20technologie%20pour%20l%27apprentissage%20et%20le%20savoir
