En général, la mise en œuvre d'un chantier souterrain d'exploitation ([en anglais :] «stope») implique comme procédé d'avancement les mêmes travaux de perforation, d'explosion, etc., que dans le creusement des galeries, sous réserve évidemment du mode d'exploitation proprement dite. Le tout consiste, en principe, à enlever par tranches successives la roche minérale et ses terrains environnants. On notera à ce sujet que le terme anglais «stope» désigne le vide laissé par l'enlèvement du minerai et que l'ensemble des opérations dans le chantier (perforation, explosion, boisage) s'appelle «stoping». 5, record 1, French, - chambre
