Band observed after using the technique ... whereby only certain telometric (T) regions are stained (id. for R-bands). This technique has the particular advantage of showing very clearly the staining of the telomeric areas of chromosomes, which are generally difficult to observe with the Q- and G-bands because of their very light staining. Unfortunately, the R- and T-banding techniques usually require the use of either phase contrast or fluorescence microscopy.

In the case of the T-bands, the technique described by Dutrillaux (1973) remains the only method available.

Cette technique offre l'avantage particulier de laisser apparaître très clairement la coloration des zones télomériques des chromosomes, lesquelles sont généralement difficilement observables dans le cas des bandes Q et G vu leur coloration très légère.
